Field of flags honoring Oregon veterans

June 9, 2009

One thousand American flags flew an impressive memorial honoring Oregon's veterans this past Memorial Day weekend at Veterans Park in Klamath Falls. The traveling memorial, called the Field of Honor, along with Honorable Service Medal ceremonies was started by John Neuman of Welches, Oregon. He created this memorial two years ago as a way for Oregonians to say "thank you" to their veterans. The flags were placed in the newly created lake front park which was previously owned and then partially donated by TimberMill Shores as part of development's plan for creating public space. The Memorial was across from the recently completed Veterans Memorial plaza and ran along the stunning backdrop of Lake Ewauna.
